ICMA southeast regional conference set for May 10-12, 2023

Mark your calendars:  The 2023 conference in ICMA’s southeast region will be held May 10-12, 2023.  Location and theme to be announced.

Randall Reid, Southeast Regional Director for ICMA reports that the ICMA Board and Leadership Team have “reimagined” the regional conferences of recent years to establish five themed conferences to be distributed around the country within regions for ease of attendance. ICMA members will market each nationally and members be welcomed to any of the themed conferences anywhere in US ( a potential sixth international one maybe added) as I understand the intent.

A main goal for this change was to accommodate a longer season of dates for spring ICMA conferences, establish staff control to better plan locations in advance in desirable facilities, and allow for earlier promotion.

The location of the 2023 conference in the southeast region is still under consideration. ICMA’s Conference Planning Team is sending RFPs to potential hotels in Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC, and Charlotte, NC. The announcement on locations and themes are forthcoming.
