The VLGMA nominating committee will be preparing a slate of nominees for election at the 2023 VLGMA conference in Virginia Beach in June.
We are seeking nominations by May 8 for terms starting July 1 in the following roles:
Secretary officer role for one-year term with the expectation of progressing in officer roles up to President. The Secretary is supported by the VML Recording Secretary. The position serves as the officer liaison to the Civic Engagement Committee and the Communications and Networking Committee. What is the time commitment?
The VLGMA officers and executive committee (together, the Board) hold three VLGMA meetings per year (fall, winter, spring - two are aligned with our conferences). If you’re an officer, you engage with applicable committees assigned or other tasks. For officers and executive committee members, you represent our organization to all members in an ethical, professional, and engaging manner.
Who’s qualified to serve?
To serve as an officer of VLGMA, you must be in the “Member” category as defined in Article III, Section 1A. and referenced in Article IV, Section 1 of the VLGMA Constitution.
To serve as an executive committee member, the Constitution and Bylaws are silent on membership categories, meaning that these positions are open any current member in the categories of member, associate, affiliate, retired, or life member, as defined in Article III, Section 1.

Our Nominating Committee represents a diverse group of individuals that encourages any and all of our members to apply as we seek to create a diverse VLGMA Board in every sense.
