Remember to submit your nomination for the Mashaw Outstanding Assistant Award!

Nominations are officially open for the FY 2020-2021 Marcia Mashaw Outstanding Assistant Award.  The deadline for submissions is May 2.

An email with a nominations form was recently sent to all VLGMA-member administrators and managers.

The Mashaw Outstanding Assistant Award recognizes a deputy or assistant manager or deputy or assistant administrator who has demonstrated outstanding performance, particularly with a special project or during a period of unique conditions and circumstances.

This award honors the memory of Marcia Mashaw, who served as assistant town manager of Blacksburg and was very active in VLGMA leadership and activities.  VLGMA created this award to honor the memory of Marcia and her many accomplishments in the local government management profession and with VLGMA.

Last year’s award process was postponed because of the pandemic.  Because no award was given in 2020, the Committee will consider presenting two awards this year.  The award(s) will be presented during the VLGMA Annual Conference.

This year’s committee is chaired by Derek Stamey, Deputy Administrator in Goochland; serving with him are Prince George County Deputy County Administrator Jeff Stoke and Roanoke Assistant County Administrator Richard Caywood.

Please remember that nominees must be VLGMA members.  If you are not sure, please email Janet Areson at jareson@vml.org to verify!  And if you need a nominations form or if you have any questions,  e-mail Janet.
