VRSA supports Virginia Women’s Municipal Leadership Institute and VLGMA

Persistence, patience, positive attitude, partnership, and collaboration are all necessary when fostering successful relationships.

Last March, a new organization, Virginia Women Leading Government, began reaching out for possible partners and participants to achieve their goals – one of which was a new training program.  VRSA immediately offered support, providing peace of mind as we do for our members, while many details of the conceptual program were being worked out over the following months.

Now with the official launch of the 2022 Virginia Women’s Municipal Leadership Institute, VRSA is that trusted partner in more way than one.

First, we are slated to be the lunch sponsor for each session of this inaugural program.  Second, VRSA is proud to offer scholarships to members selected to participate in the institute through our Risk Management Grant funds.  Questions may be directed to either VRSA Local Government Specialist Peter Stephenson at: pstephenson@vrsa.us or VRSA Director of Education and Training Thomas Bullock at: tbullock@vrsa.us.

These grants were also utilized earlier this year to support VRSA members wishing to attend the new Leading, Educating and Developing (LEAD) program held at the University of Virginia. Last year, several other VRSA members received financial support for coursework in the Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management at Virginia Tech.  These are just a few specific grant utilization examples.  VRSA is a steadfast supporter of good governance and the important training of tomorrow’s local government leaders today.

At the upcoming VLGMA 2022 Winter Conference in Staunton, VRSA is proud to sponsor cyber defense attorney Darius Davenport, managing partner at Crenshaw, Ware & Martin (CWM), to share his perspectives in the ‘Cybersecurity: Best Practices in a Changing Environment’ panel presentation discussion on Thursday morning.

For members purchasing cyber protections through VRSA, Davenport and his team at CWM provide cyber incident response. We are confident CWM will deliver services in a professional and timely manner – upholding VRSA’s dedication and commitment to service.

We understand that cybersecurity is not your organization’s top challenge or concern - and it shouldn’t be. VRSA offers cybersecurity resources and services to help you identify and implement controls. Since 2012, VRSA has continued to offer and expand our coverages, resources, and services to meet our members’ needs.

For more information, see our Cybersecurity flier here.

As challenges to VRSA members continue to evolve, so too will the coverages, services, and resources we offer. VRSA is here to protect our members so they can focus on serving their communities. For more information on VRSA, visit: www.vrsa.us.
